Reaches up to 2.5 meters in height. This variety forms dense shrubs with lanceolate leaves (10–20 cm), dark green above and silvery underneath. Branches arch gently outward and bend under the weight of inflorescences. Valued for its long flowering period, large blooms, and low maintenance. Not frost-hardy – requires winter protection. Prefers warm, sunny, and wind-sheltered locations. Needs fertile, well-drained soil.
Flowering: First buds appear in late June. Blooms from July until the end of September. Small lilac-like purple flowers form long, cone-shaped inflorescences (40–60 cm). Flowers open gradually, first on main stems, then side shoots. The intense fragrance attracts insects, especially butterflies.
Fruit/Harvest: Not applicable.
Growing conditions: Requires warm, sunny, wind-sheltered sites. Plant in fertile, well-drained soil with neutral to slightly acidic pH.
Care: Avoid overwatering – roots are sensitive to low oxygen levels. During drought, watering is recommended. Sensitive to frost – in late autumn, mulch the base with bark or leaves. In spring, prune low and fertilize with nitrogen-rich fertilizer to stimulate growth and flowering. Regular removal of faded flowers extends the blooming period.
Use: Perfect for prominent garden spots. Can be planted solo or in groups. Tolerant of urban pollution, ideal for city greenery.
