Large shrub with a rounded shape and arching branches, reaching up to 2.5 m. ‘White Bouquet’ is an ornamental cultivar of Buddleja davidii, featuring all the typical traits of the species. It is less frost-tolerant and requires winter protection. Blooms from summer to early autumn. Long, fragrant white flower clusters attract butterflies. Prefers warm, sunny, and wind-sheltered spots. Needs fertile, well-drained soil.
Flowering: Blooms from July to September. Flowers appear gradually – first on main shoots, then on lateral ones. 'White Bouquet' is a decorative variety with delicate white flowers and a characteristic golden center, gathered in very long, conical flower heads up to 50 cm. Also decorative are the long, lance-shaped, dark green leaves with silvery undersides.
Growing conditions: Requires sunny, warm, wind-sheltered locations. For lush flowering and growth, it prefers fertile, well-drained, moderately moist soil with slightly acidic pH. During hot summer days, proper watering is essential.
Care: Young potted shrubs can be planted throughout the season, but best in autumn or spring. Early spring pruning is recommended – thin shoots down to 5–10 cm, thicker ones to 20–25 cm. This ensures a bushy habit and abundant flowering. Unpruned shoots may reach up to 3 m but reduce aesthetic value and flower quality. During the season, remove faded inflorescences to prolong blooming. After flowering, cut off the remaining ones to ease the plant. ‘White Bouquet’ is less frost-resistant – protect the base with soil, bark, or compost. If frost damages the top parts, cut back all shoots to the ground in spring. The plant will regrow and bloom the same year.
Use: Excellent for home gardens or urban greenery. Looks good planted solo or in groups. Flowers are suitable for cutting and bouquets.
