Flowering: The first flower buds appear by the end of June. Flowering lasts from July to the end of September. The small, purple flowers, reminiscent of lilac blooms, are gathered into very striking, long, cone-shaped inflorescences up to 40 – 60 cm in length. The flowers open gradually, first on the main shoots, and then on the side shoots. Due to its strong fragrance, the shrub attracts insects, especially butterflies.

Growing conditions or requirements: Buddleja requires warm, sunny locations. It grows best in wind-sheltered areas. It should be planted in fertile, well-draining soils with a neutral or slightly acidic pH.

Care: Shrubs of this variety should not be watered too abundantly as their roots are sensitive to lack of air. However, during dry periods, irrigation is recommended. Buddleja is sensitive to frost, so late in the autumn, the base of the shrubs should be covered with pine bark or leaves to protect against freezing. In spring, simply cut the plant low to the ground and fertilize it with a nitrogen-rich fertilizer. This procedure encourages the growth of young shoots, maintains a good shape for the shrub, and ensures abundant flowering. To extend the flowering period, it is recommended to systematically remove faded inflorescences.

Application: Due to its abundant flowering, Buddleja is ideal for exposed locations. It can be planted both singly and in groups. It is resistant to pollution, making it suitable for use in urban greenery.
