American Blueberry Denise Blue (Vaccinium corymbosum) is a variety highly valued by gardeners for its abundant fruiting, large sweet berries and strong resistance to challenging weather conditions. A mature shrub reaches 1–2 m in height, forming a vigorous, healthy plant that is covered with fruit in summer and turns red in autumn. It is an excellent choice both for home gardens and larger orchards or plantations.
Denise Blue is known for its exceptional yield. Under good conditions, one shrub can produce 7–8 kg of berries, each weighing 1.5–2 g and measuring about 1 cm in diameter. The fruits ripen from July to August and are appreciated for their sweet, juicy flavour and dessert quality.
Key fruit characteristics:
large, firm and very sweet
perfect for fresh eating, freezing and preserves
ripen evenly over several weeks
stable, abundant crops every year
To keep Denise Blue healthy and productive, it is important to provide the right site and soil.
