Bluecrop highbush blueberry is considered the most valuable and most widely planted variety in the world. It is a fruit shrub of medium-early ripening, producing berries with high dietary value and low caloric content. Due to its thick skin, it is excellent for transport and withstands it well, even over long distances. It produces abundantly, is frost-resistant, and has minimal soil requirements. One glass of fresh blueberries meets the daily vitamin C requirement for an adult.

Usage: It has very tasty sweet and tangy fruits recommended for raw consumption, especially due to their content of pectins, minerals, and vitamins beneficial for digestive health, heart, and eyes. Frost resistance from -28°C to -34°C, although temperatures as low as -7°C during flowering can reduce yield. Medium-strong growth, reaching 160–200 cm in height.

Flowering: Medium-sized, bell-shaped flowers; unopened petals are pinkish, older ones whitish; sepals pink and adherent to petals, stalks thin and medium-length, often pinkish. Leaves are lanceolate, elongated, strongly veined, young ones pinkish, mature ones dark green.

Ripening and fruiting: Mid-season variety, ripening in late July to early August. Large, round, often flattened fruits in large, loose, uniform clusters, light blue with heavy waxy bloom. Flesh is greenish-yellow, slightly pink under the skin, firm, moderately aromatic, sweet-tart, and very tasty. Overripe fruits may fall. Heavy yields may cause fruit to shrink, hence intensive post-harvest pruning is recommended. Branches should be tied to support fruit weight. Thick skins may crack in prolonged rain.

Exposure: Sites that allow soil temperatures to reach 18–21°C are recommended.

Care: Acidic soil, rich in humus, airy, permeable, and constantly moist.

Pruning: In the first few years, remove diseased, weak, and broken shoots, and shorten new growths.
