A medium-sized shrub, growing up to 1.8 m tall, with a rounded habit and dense shoots covered with intensely green leaves, bears fruit abundantly. Due to its ease of cultivation, the blueberry is recommended for less experienced growers. The position should be sunny, sheltered from the wind, and the soil should be well-drained. Blueberry prefers acidic soil. It likes a lot of moisture, but does not tolerate waterlogging.
It is frost-resistant down to –34°C, resistant to pests and diseases.
Application: Suitable for container cultivation on terraces and balconies. Recommended for both group and individual planting. Blueberries support the treatment of heart and eye diseases, contain antioxidants, anti-inflammatory compounds, and enzymes that lower cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of heart disease. Suitable as a dessert fruit and for processing.
Flowering and fruiting: Flowering occurs in April–May. During flowering, the bush is covered with small white flowers in loose clusters. In the second half of summer, attractive-looking fruits appear. The fruits are large and tasty, flattened, light navy-blue with a blue coating, moderately firm and tasty. The yields are quite abundant, ready for harvest over a week after full coloration, usually in the second half of August. Blueberries are highly nutritious and low in calories, containing minerals, vitamins, and pectins. In autumn, the leaves turn a beautiful carmine red to purple.
Care: Requires acidic soil with pH 4–5, or even 3.5–4. On light soils, irrigation is necessary. Prefers a sunny location.
Pruning: Older shrubs should be thinned by removing diseased and overly dense shoots.
