Chandler highbush blueberry is a very prolific variety that produces huge, the largest among highbush varieties, tasty fruits with an extended ripening period of 4–6 weeks. This variety is recommended mainly for fresh consumption as a valuable source of vitamins. It is a vigorous shrub that grows up to 1.5 m in height. Frost resistance down to –34°C. The site should be sunny, sheltered from the wind, and the soil should be well-drained. Blueberries prefer acidic soil. They like a lot of moisture but do not tolerate waterlogging.
Use: The fruits are primarily intended for fresh consumption, but also suitable for preserves.
Flowering and fruiting: This shrub flowers late and for a long time; the flowers are bell-shaped, white or white-pink. This variety produces exceptionally large fruits, usually over 2 cm in diameter and weighing about 2 g. It often produces fruits over 2.5 cm in diameter. The berries are blue, tasty, and firm. It has high and consistent yields. Fruits ripen gradually, with the harvest period falling at the turn of July and August.
Care: The site should be sunny and sheltered. Soil should be acidic with a pH of 3.8–4.8, light, and well-drained.
