A mid-late variety, very productive, forming fairly vigorous bushes. A highly recommended cultivar due to its late ripening, resistance, and good fruit quality. The site should be sunny, sheltered from the wind, and the soil well-drained. Blueberries prefer acidic soil. They like moisture but do not tolerate waterlogging.
A mid-late variety, very productive, forming fairly vigorous shrubs. A variety highly recommended due to its late ripening period, resistance and good fruit quality.
The fruits are very large, round, slightly flattened, light blue, gathered in rather small, loose clusters. The flesh is greenish, firm, sweet and sour, aromatic and tasty. They ripen from mid-August. They retain aroma and flavor until the end of summer. Suitable for fresh consumption, processing and freezing. The variety forms dense shrubs with a height of 130 - 160 cm, upright habit. Highbush blueberry requires another bush for pollination, so planting in groups is recommended.
Application: Plant blueberry bushes at a spacing of 2-2.5 meters. Before planting, it is advisable to add non-deacidified high peat to the soil. After planting, mulch with bark or conifer sawdust. The variety is fully frost-resistant. High frost resistance from -28°C to -34°C.
Diseases affecting blueberries include stem blight, dieback, gray mold, anthracnose, white leaf spot, brown rot. Pests that may appear: grubs, wireworms, blueberry gall midge, blueberry bud mite, aphids, thrips, tortrix moth, rose chafer, strawberry root weevil.
Fruiting: Blooms in spring. Fruits begin to ripen in August, the ripening period lasts about 3 weeks. Yields up to 6 kg per bush. The fruits are large, aromatic and very tasty, gathered in loose clusters (similar to the Spartan variety). Ripe fruits stay long on the bush and do not fall off, harvested by hand.
Care: Sunny to semi-shaded positions, sheltered from wind. Suitable for cultivation on plots near forests. Soil should be humus-rich, light, permeable, acidic (pH 3.5–4) and moist. Due to the high water demand during the growing season, the groundwater level should be quite high (40–60 cm). In periods of drought, regular watering is necessary.
Pruning: Do not prune blueberries after planting. The first corrective pruning is done after four years. Until then, only remove dry or diseased branches. Older bushes require intensive pruning. The fruits tolerate transport well.
