Brigitta is an Australian variety of highbush blueberry, considered one of the most promising varieties, highly productive, bearing large, tasty, crunchy, high-quality berries. It is extremely valuable due to its late fruiting and the ability to store the berries for a long time.
Use: The attractive-tasting fruits are recommended primarily for direct consumption, they also store well for a long time in lower temperatures and are suitable for storage in refrigerated rooms with controlled atmosphere. It grows very vigorously, reaching a height of 180-200 cm.
Fruiting and flowering: It forms a lot of flower buds, fairly evenly distributed on the shoots, with white or pink flowers appearing in May. This is a late-ripening variety, it starts ripening two weeks after the Bluecrop variety and just before Darrow, with fruit harvesting in August. The fruits are large, round, firm, crunchy, with a slightly tangy taste, light blue, smooth, covered with a waxy coating. The flesh is green, the calyx scar is small and dry. Blueberry fruits contain no fat or cholesterol. The leaves are small, dark green with a characteristic burgundy coating, sharply angled upwards.
Care: Requires a warm, wind-protected, sunny position. The soil should be acidic, with a pH of 3.5-4, well-drained, moist, and due to the long growing season, the bushes should be cultivated in lighter soils. It has a high frost resistance down to -24°C, but due to its Australian origin, it has higher heat requirements. Not fully woody shoots may freeze during frost.
