Carex comans ‘Frosted Curls’ originates from New Zealand, where it naturally grows on vast meadows and pastures. It forms a dense clump of arching, downward‑curving, glossy, silver‑green, thread‑like leaves, delicately curled at the tips, creating the visual impression of grass covered in frost. This is a low variety, reaching 30–50 cm in height. The beige flowers, without ornamental value, appear from May to August. It requires sheltered locations and humus‑rich, consistently moist soil, especially during the growing season. It prefers sunny or lightly shaded, wind‑protected sites. The plant is frost‑hardy, but in colder regions of Poland mulching or covering with fir branches is recommended. In spring, remove any frost‑damaged leaves. It looks excellent in modern garden designs, gravel gardens, traditional rock gardens, and in containers on balconies and terraces.
